General View of the Diamond Mountains

Created in 1734 by the artist Jeong Seon, the landscape painting titled 'Geumgang jeondo' translates literally as 'General view of Mt. Geumgangsan,' which is also known as the Diamond Mountains. Painted in Korea during the historical reign of King Yeongjo, this landscape has since become widely famous. The work captures a general view of Mt. Geumgangsan, providing a depiction of the mountains. Reflecting its profound cultural value, the painting was officially classified as the 217th National Treasure of South Korea on August 6, 1984. Currently, the masterwork is owned by Lee Kun-hee. The painting is held and managed by the Ho-Am Art Museum, which is located in Yongin within Gyeonggi Province. Completed under King Yeongjo's rule, Jeong Seon's famous composition remains an essential treasure of Korean landscape art.
